I have surveyed 10 other counties who participate in this program, <br />and feel the Welfare Department may be able to make the correct <br />determination approximately 50% of the time due to the complexity <br />surrounding eligibility and whether or not the disablement will <br />continue for 12 months. In any event, by participating we could <br />recapture a portion of our expended funds that would otherwise <br />be lost. We could be a service to our residents in this type of <br />need, that presently Indian River County Organizations do not <br />provide. I will appreciate PP your due consideration and will be <br />happy to answer any questions you might have. <br />i <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bowman, that the Board approve the <br />proposal to expand our present guidelines to include <br />rent/mortgage and utility payments for this program <br />only. <br />Joann Mixon,.Welfare Department Director, requested that <br />Indigent hospitalization also be added to the text of the <br />proposed agreement. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION with the <br />inclusion of the indigent hospitalization. The <br />Motion was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />Director Mixon advised that the program would not begin <br />until October 1, 1985 when, hopefully, money will be budgeted for <br />rent and utilities. <br />REVISED GUIDELINES ARE ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK <br />REVISION OF PROFESSIONAL AGREEMENT - SIPPEL, MASTELLER, LORENZ & <br />HOOVER, INC. <br />Utilities Director Terry Pinto explained that we presently <br />have an agreement with Sippel, Masteller, Lorenz 8 Hoover that <br />was entered into on a form prescribed by Farmers Home Adminis- <br />tration for the SR -60 waterline.
