M r M <br />Commissioner Scurlock noted that as he had commented earlier <br />it seems this is premature and that there are too many questions <br />to move on the item. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Scurlock, to deny the request for <br />a change in the Land Use Plan redesignating the <br />subject acreage to RR -2. <br />Commissioner Wodtke believed that the statement made by the <br />Kromhouts that this is prime agricultural land and can be so used <br />is a serious consideration. Although the soil analysis tells us <br />it doesn't drain, it appears that doesn't necessarily say it <br />isn't good soil. <br />It was noted that apparently the whole problem with this <br />land is that it doesn't drain, and Commissioner Scurlock felt <br />that you can make most any land suitable for agriculture; the <br />question is how much are you going to spend to do it. <br />Commissioner Wodtke noted that many years ago most of the <br />land in this area was under water until it was diked; there <br />obviously is a drainage problem. Some utilization of the land <br />should be allowed, however, and although the present proposal <br />would involve a major change in our Comprehensive Plan, he felt <br />all would agree that the Corrigan's and Ansin's considerable <br />acreage should not be considered a potential for residential. - <br />Commissioner Wodtke felt the type of development that is being <br />I <br />proposed is the type we want to encourage in the county, but he <br />would like to see a proposal that could address all the factors <br />that have been raised. He did not feel, however, that it is <br />right to ask any developer to spend that kind of money without <br />getting some kind of an indication of support. <br />Commissioner Scurlock concurred that the kind of development <br />they are suggesting could be a very positive thing for the <br />county; he felt there is always going to be a point where <br />53 <br />DEC 4 1985 <br />BOOK 62 PAGE 9 <br />
