through impact fees and that will be the limiting factor as to <br />how far we go. <br />Director Pinto explained that they are not asking to <br />purchase anything today, but it is important for the Board to <br />know who they are going to talk to and what figures, etc. They <br />will come back to the Board with a recommendation. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, that the Board approve <br />staff's recommendation as set out in the above <br />memo dated 5/30/86. <br />Commissioner Bowman asked how long a sod farm can be <br />operated when 2" of top soil is taken off with each harvest, and <br />Director Pinto explained that only 1/2" or less is taken off at a <br />time and that is where the sludge will come into play. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. The Motion <br />was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />Administrator Thomas advised that he and Director Pinto have <br />been putting together a team which includes the University of <br />Florida Experimental'Station, the County Utilities engineers, <br />Steve Futch from the local Agricultural Dept., and several <br />agricultural users. They have had several meetings and their aim <br />is three -fold: <br />1) To use effluent from the plant. <br />2) To find proper agricultural uses for effluent. They are <br />progressing on this very well, especially with citrus.
