Sic. <br />Freddie L. Woolfork <br />WHEREAS, Freddie L. Woolfork, a graduate of Vero Beach High School and a 1974 graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical <br />University, was born and raised in Gifford, Florida, and <br />WHEREAS, the Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC), Inc., is a nonprofit organization that opened its doors in 1998 with the goal of <br />enhancing the academic achievement of children in Indian River County, and <br />WHEREAS, the GYAC offers numerous programs for all of its residents, from children to seniors, such as its After School Education Program <br />that provides homework assistance, tutoring, and mentoring for children in grades kindergarten through 12 and its Beyond Special K (Senior) Program that <br />provides adults and senior citizens educational, social, recreational, and cultural activities, and <br />WHEREAS, Freddie Woolfork has dedicated his career to the GYAC since its inception and currently serves as the GYAC's director of public <br />relations and facility operations and a mentor in the GYAC's Boys 2 Men 2 Greatness program, a program started in 2015 that matches at -risk male teens <br />with adult male role models from the Gifford community to help keep the young men in school and out of trouble, and <br />WHEREAS, as a Gifford native, Freddie Woolfork knows his community well and has been an eyewitness to its evolving needs, which inspired <br />him to help create the Gifford Neighborhood Plan, a grassroots effort conceptualized in 1999 and approved in 2014 that aims to improve economic <br />conditions and the quality of life for Gifford residents by identifying issues that are important to the residents and making recommendations to the Board <br />of County Commissioners to resolve those issues, and <br />WHEREAS, Freddie Woolfork also serves his community, on the Indian River Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, the Vero Beach <br />Museum of Art Education Committee, the Workforce Development Board of the Treasure Coast Youth Council Board, the Riverside National Bank of <br />Florida Community Board, the Progressive Civic League of Gifford, Florida, Inc., and the Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers Board of Directors, and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Vero Beach designated July 2, 2005, as "Freddie Woolfork Day," and, in 2007, Vero Beach Magazine <br />selected Freddie Woolfork as one of the 40 most influential people in Indian River County, NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESPECTFULLY PROCLAIMED that Freddie L.
