J U L 16 1996BooK 65 Fk�r. 115 <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Lyons, to indicate on the ballot that we <br />will use AT&T as our preferred long distance company. <br />Commissioner Wodtke inquired about MCI, which he felt was <br />cheaper, and Supervisor Williams advised that they are not <br />providing that service in this area right now. <br />Chairman Scurlock commented that he has talked to some who <br />have gone to other networks, and they are not happy with the <br />level of service they receive. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It -was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />COMMUNICATION/911 CENTER - DESIGN CONSULTANT <br />The Board reviewed the following memo: <br />TO: The Honorable Members DATE: July 1986 FILE: <br />of the Board of County <br />Commissioners <br />Thru: Tommy Thomas W13JECT: Communication/911 Center <br />Acting County A ministra or <br />H. "Sonny" Dean <br />FROM: Director REFERENCES: <br />General Services Division <br />Mr. Charles Block, the Architect and consultant for the proposed <br />Sheriff's Administration building, is ready to design the <br />Communications/911 Center. This part of the project is under his <br />contract as an additional service, and he has recommended using the <br />consulting engineering firm of Braham, Debay and Associates of Palm <br />Beach. Mr. Block does not have the experience nor personnel in this <br />area of design. Braham, Debay and Associates has given an estimated <br />cost of around $5,000.00 to do the work. <br />Mr. Block plans to put the general contract for the entire building <br />project out for bids this month, and he needs the consultant as soon <br />as possible. . <br />The nonrecurring charges for any consultant.in connection with the <br />911 system can be paid out of the surcharge monies collected under <br />our Resolution No. 86-22 as allowed by the State Statute. <br />Staff recommends authorization by the Board to the proposal as <br />requested by the Architect. <br />68 <br />
