Friday, he had trouble finding anyone to attend today's meeting. <br />He emphasized that today is election day, and that their attorney <br />is ill. He would appreciate the County not voting on this matter <br />until School Board Chairman Dorothy Talbert arrives, as he <br />expected her shortly. <br />Commissioner Lyons felt that there wasn't any reason to hold <br />up the vote, because the Board is merely saying that the Board of <br />County Commissioners is in charge of land use in this county and <br />that the School Board must follow our procedures. <br />Chairman Scurlock felt that basically the Motion gives us <br />the ability to go ahead and discuss this, but does indicate to <br />the School Board that we are serious about this matter. <br />Attorney Vitunac advised that the law states that School <br />Boards do not have to pay impact taxes. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. The Motion <br />was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />DISCUSSION RE COUNTY GOLF COURSE PERSONNEL <br />Chairman Scurlock explained that he asked for this item to <br />be placed on today's Agenda because last week, while Commissioner <br />Bird was on vacation, he learned that an offer had been made to a <br />golf professional for managing the golf course without the other <br />Commissioners having seen any resumes or holding any interviews. <br />Commissioner Bird stated it was his understanding that at a <br />recent meeting the Board had authorized him to work with staff to <br />come up with a selection and hire a manager of the golf course, <br />who would be reporting to the County Administrator. After that <br />meeting, Personnel worked up a brief job description, advertised <br />the position, and send out questionnaires to several public golf <br />courses throughout the state regarding salaries received by <br />managers and golf professionals. He narrowed the selection down <br />to three after screening resumes from individuals all over the <br />country.
