The Sheriff came back to the Board and asked for an <br />interpretation, and the Board advised him that we should follow <br />the Sheriff's calculations. <br />Commissioner Bird wished to be sure the School Summer <br />Recreation Program had not been overlooked and was advised that <br />it is included in the General Fund. <br />OMB Director Baird advised that he had received letters <br />protesting the proposed increase in taxes and asked that these be <br />made a part of the record. The letters of protest received were <br />from John Yoder, owner of a mobile home in Roseland; from E. J. <br />Rasquinha, owner of property in Sebastian Highlands; from <br />Elizabeth Ritchie, owner of lots in Vero Lake Estates; and from <br />B. L. Hambleton, Vice President of Moorings of Vero Property <br />Owners Association. Said letters are on file in the Office of <br />Clerk to the Board. - <br />Chairman Scurlock opened the public hearing on the following <br />funds and districts, all of which are supported by tax dollars: <br />General Fund <br />_Transportation Fund <br />-- Beach Acquisition General Obligation Bonds (1983) <br />Municipal Service Fund <br />North County Fire District <br />South County Fire District <br />West County Fire District <br />Vero Lake Estates MSTU <br />Rockridge Street Lighting MSTU <br />Laurelwood Street Lighting MSTU <br />Vero Highlands Street Lighting MSTU <br />Gifford Street Lighting MSTU <br />Porpoise Point Street Lighting MSTU <br />Single Light Districts <br />Laurel Court Street Lighting District <br />The Chairman asked if anyone present wished to be heard in <br />regard to any of the above listed funds and districts. <br />George Sink, Vero Lakes Estates, wished to discuss the <br />General Fund and stated that as much as he welcomes human <br />services, recreation, etc., he would prefer to pare that down and <br />do without some of it in order to have more and better law <br />enforcement even if he had to pay the same dollars. He be- <br />lieved that historically some of these services have been taken <br />care of by the United Fund and such agencies. Mr. Sink stressed <br />12 <br />
