Also, we do <br />have marginal access easements recorded that will allow us <br />perpetual use. <br />Chairman Scurlock asked what we can do about the flea market <br />on South U.S.1, and Director Keating noted that existing <br />development poses a problem and all we can do is just hope it <br />redevelops. <br />Commissioner Bowman asked Mr. Fowler what happened to the <br />light promised for Barber Avenue. The people there seem to <br />believe they didn't get the light and Fort Lauderdale did. She <br />realized this is not our concern but that of the City of <br />Sebastian, but hoped the DOT would look into it. <br />Mr. Fowler reported that the Mayor had called him, and he <br />assured the Mayor that the DOT will follow up on their commitment <br />and this should be worked out in the next month or two. <br />Mr. Fowler wished to mention that in the area of functional <br />reclassification, they are adding a piece of the connector for <br />SR60 east of U.S.1 to the state system. <br />Mr. Henderson advised that is 20th Place over to 6th Avenue <br />and 6th back up to SR60. They are trying to schedule the public <br />hearing on this for March 4th and probably within 30-60 days <br />after that will transfer that portion onto the state system prior <br />to June 30th so they can resurface it with some of this year's <br />resurfacing money. <br />Commissioner Bird brought up the resurfacing being done on <br />North U.S.1. He felt we have a very dangerous situation at the <br />27th Street railroad crossing by Scotty's with the barricades and <br />the limiting of the traffic lanes. <br />Mr. Fowler advised that the DOT is supposed to see that the <br />contractor maintains traffic properly and safely, and they will <br />check into this. <br />Commissioner Wheeler spoke of the dangerous U-turns required <br />to get off U.S.1 into and out of the Royal Gardens Plaza south of <br />Vista Royale where Perkins Restaurant is located and asked if <br />=ate 19 BOOK 67 FKF � <br />FEB�, L -v <br />
