�I a <br />a8 1987 r� <br />BOOK 70 P* 1,3e� <br />AUTHORIZATION FOR TRAVEL EXPENSES INVOLVED IN.INTERVIEWING <br />CANDIDATES FOR RISK MANAGER POSITION <br />Administrator Balczun explained that he added this item to <br />the Agenda because he understands that the money budgeted for <br />authorized travel is interpreted traditionally by this Board as <br />"travel to professional development seminars, etc." The travel <br />expense in this case is for the interviewing of candidates for <br />the risk manager position. <br />Commissioner Bird asked how many trips would be involved, <br />and wondered why we have to go to them. <br />Administrator Balczun advised that we would bring the <br />candidates here, which is traditional. One candidate is from <br />Louisiana and another is from upstate New York, and he felt that <br />$1,000 would be sufficient for 2 air fares, two nights' lodging, <br />etc. <br />The Board indicated their agreement that $2000 would be <br />better to cover those costs. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />travel expenses in the amount of $2000 for the <br />interviewing of candidates for the risk manager <br />position. <br />DISCUSSION REGARDING BUDGET OFFICE BEING UNDER THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 11/12/87: <br />U-1 <br />� � r <br />
