Pr— <br />JAN 1 `998 <br />BOOK <br />70 P F 654 <br />Commissioner Wheeler supported expressing concern also. He <br />felt is prudent to have a good relationship with the developers <br />of the town, and further noted that last year, we got absolutely <br />no place with the delegation anyway. He also believed that high <br />rises and condos are not selling this county. High class <br />development seems to be what does sell. He was willing to voice <br />concern and continue to work with the developers. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird, to change Item 1 to discus- <br />sion of our concerns about the Town of Orchid, not <br />ask for dissolutionment. <br />Commissioner Bowman asked what we are asking the legislators <br />to do, and Chairman Scurlock stated we would just express our <br />concerns and suggest that the first time the developer moves in a <br />negative fashion, we would ask them to reconsider dissolution- <br />ment. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />6) Re Library Grants, Commissioner Eggert advised that we are <br />going after them for the North County, but she didn't see any way <br />we can bring South County in for this budget year. There is one <br />in each budget and we want them to be aware of both. <br />8) Attorney Vitunac asked Commissioner Eggert if she still wanted <br />to oppose Senate Bill 19, and Commissioner Eggert stated that she <br />did because it just says "consult" and we wanted more than that. <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Commissioner Bowman reviewed the following report: <br />94 <br />
