Accident Review Committee - Group of six general employees <br />who volunteer on a rotating six month term to sit on a <br />committee. Meets once a month or more if necessary to. <br />review all accidents involving County employees. Risk <br />Manager and Safety Coordinator sit as advisors only. <br />Determination made as to fault of employee and <br />recommendations made to Department Heads as to <br />reprecussions. <br />IV. Educational Committee - Keeps the Safety Committee apprised <br />of current safety practices. Runs incentive programs. <br />Distributes awards for safety. Offers safety films, etc. <br />It is further proposed that an Employee Assistance Program be <br />established so that employees with personal and work performance <br />problems may seek assistance as an alternative to suspensions and <br />termination. <br />411 <br />An Employee Assistance Program would offer employees psychological, <br />drug and alcohol counseling, marital, legal and other types of <br />assistance. <br />The format presently in place in Broward,County is excellent. <br />On page 4 is a skeletal outline. Other•'programs can <br />be developed if this plan is not effective. <br />Finally, staff requests that a Safety Coordinator be brought on <br />board with the following functions: <br />1. Show safety videos and bring in guest lecturers on various <br />safety practices which warrant attention. <br />2. Sit as an advisory member of all committees of the Safety <br />Committee. <br />3. Keep a constant check on the areas of greatest <br />concentration of loss in worker's compensation. Monitor <br />compliance with company safety rules and regulations. <br />4. Establish a Wellness Program involving employees in <br />various type exercise, diet and medical programs. <br />5. Follow up on Safety Committee internal and external <br />facility inspections to insure that work is completed. <br />Assure that pertinent state and federal regulations are <br />followed. <br />6. Prepare monthly reports to the commission on areas of loss <br />and areas of improvement. <br />7. Prepare program status reports for staff meetings and <br />Safety Board meetings. <br />8. Develop annual goals and objectives for Safety Program. <br />9. Conduct annual driver's license checks on all employees <br />who drive for the county. <br />10. Conduct annual vehicle inspection program so that all <br />county vehicles on the road are safje. <br />11. Establish fire prevention programs. <br />12. Develop contingency disaster preparedness plans in concert <br />with office of Emergency Management. <br />56 <br />
