catch up where we need to, and then move forward from that time <br />with the encouragement that vacation time must be taken. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, for the <br />Administrator to pursue the matter of vacation pay <br />for OMB Baird as discussed above and also vacation <br />policy in general. <br />Along with this subject, Commissioner Scurlock informed the <br />Board that there is an issue addressed in our audit comments in <br />terms of our payroll procedures that needs to be worked out. He <br />asked that OMB Director Baird review this very briefly. <br />OMB Director Baird explained that what is happening is that <br />we pay an employee on Friday morning through Thursday, and the <br />employees turn their forms in on a Wednesday. The Auditors feel <br />with this procedure it is possible an employee could be off sick <br />or on vacation and it wouldn't be picked up. This also affects <br />overtime hours. The Auditors feel this procedure should be <br />changed and that we should hold back a weeks' pay. This matter <br />will be brought back to the Board at another time. <br />Commissioner Bird wished to know how much money is involved <br />with Director Baird's vacation time.. <br />OMB Director Baird felt it was possibly $5,000 to $6,000. <br />Director Pinto stated that about the same amount would be <br />involved in his case., <br />Discussion continued as to what extenuating circumstances <br />would be, and Commissioner Eggert felt there is a lot of <br />difference between the inconvenience of taking a vacation at a <br />certain time and being told you cannot take a vacation. <br />Commissioner Scurlock commented that the same individuals <br />who are involved had travel out of county.
