APR 11199 <br />BOOK 76 PAGE 541 <br />Chairman Wheeler emphasized that this happens all the time. <br />People come in and buy the property knowing full well how it is <br />zoned, and then when they want to up zone it, they come in and <br />start knocking it and say how worthless it is. <br />Commissioner Eggert admitted that the more she stares at <br />this, the more she wishes it was OCR. <br />Commissioner Scurlock stated he would vote against the <br />Motion as it stands, but would support a Motion for something <br />more restrictive than CL. <br />COMMISSIONER EGGERT WITHDREW HER SECOND OF COMMISSIONER <br />BIRD'S MOTION, AND THE MOTION DIED FOR LACK OF A SECOND. <br />Attorney Vitunac explained that since the Motion died for <br />lack of a second, the applicant can request another zoning in the <br />fi <br />same general category that is less intense. The applicant may <br />also decide to totally withdraw, but Attorney O'Haire stated <br />that, "anything is better than residential." <br />Chairman Wheeler reopened the Public Hearing in <br />consideration of the OCR zoning district, and asked if anyone <br />wished to be heard. <br />Jack Mitchell, 220 Sandpiper Point, stated that while they <br />realize the need for low cost family housing in the area, they <br />would not object to PRO or OCR zoning. <br />There being no others who wished to be heard, the Chairman <br />closed the Public Hearing. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Scurlock, the Board adopted. Ordinance <br />89-11, rezoning ±42.5 acres from RM -6, Multi -Family <br />Residential District, to OCR (Office, Commercial, <br />Residential District), for property generally <br />located at the southwest corner of U.S. #1 and 73rd <br />Street. <br />25 <br />
