'JUIN £ 1989 <br />FIREARMS RANGE COMMITTEE REPORT <br />BOOK 1U F4;E.03e <br />The Board reviewed the following Summary of Actions dated <br />5/18/89: <br />Telephone: (407) 567-8000 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />1840 25th Street, Vero Beach, Florida 32960 <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />FIREARMS RANGE COMMITTEE <br />MAY 18, 1989 <br />Suncom Telephone: 424-1011 <br />Several committee members, staff and interested parties toured <br />some property owned by St. Johns River Water Management District <br />located near the 20 -mile bend west on SR -60. They felt this <br />property would be acceptable for a public/law enforcement <br />firearms range. <br />The committee members unanimously voted to recommend this site to <br />the County Commission for a combined public and law enforcement <br />range. <br />A sub -committee consisting of a representative from the Sheriff's <br />office, Bill Stegkemper and Ned Potter was asked to get together <br />with a range designer to develop a design for the range. <br />Chairman Bird will ask someone on County staff to investigate <br />possible funding sources for the project. He will also <br />correspond with St. Johns River Water Management District to let <br />them know the site is acceptable and ask them for a commitment to <br />lease the property to the County, and also for a commitment for <br />assistance in the cost and improvement of the property. <br />91 <br />
