Administrator Chandler clarified that they are asking for a <br />part-time employee for the balance of the fiscal year. He <br />confirmed that there has been a request for a full time employee <br />in next year's budget, but he has not made a determination at this <br />time whether he will recommend that. He believed there is no <br />question that there is a need for part-time help. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously authorized <br />a permanent part-time staff position for the Purchasing <br />Division. <br />G. Budget Amendment #080 - Automobile for Building and Grounds <br />uperintendent <br />The Board reviewed memo from the Administrator: <br />DATE: JUNE 51 1989 <br />TO: HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />THRU: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: H.T. "SONNY" DEAN, DIRECTO <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: AUTOMOBILE FOR BUILDING AND GROUNDS SUPERINTENDENT <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Mr.yDavid Nolte, County Property Appraiser has turned in a 1984, Ford <br />automobile as surplus property, to be sold. This car has 30,000 miles <br />omit and is in good shape. <br />;ANALYSIS: <br />Lynn .Williams, Building and Grounds Superintendent has a need for a <br />`vehicle -that can be used by him to oversee the two library projects, j <br />`answer ---calls at night, and on week -ends along with other routine <br />:,maintenance problems within his area of responsibility. The subject <br />--rvehicle would serve this purpose. <br />The Property Appraiser has asked a minimum of $1,800 for the 1984 Ford. <br />;',Thecost to purchase a similar new car would be in excess of $10,000. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Itis requested that the Board authorize a budget amendment from General <br />Fund Contingencies to Building and Grounds for the purchase of the 1984 <br />Ford automobile to be used by the Buildings and Grounds Superintendent, <br />in his work area. <br />�-p <br />21 BOOK 1°.61 <br />X9$9 <br />
