Davis, P.E.,: <br />Public Works Director--* <br />SUBJECT: Road & Bridge <br />DATE: July 19, 1989 <br />Division Office Building <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The low bidder for the Road and Bridge Division office building <br />has not been able to finalize contract execution with the County. <br />As a result, the low bidder, Rocheford-Baer Construction Corp. is <br />forfeiting his bid bond in the amount of $2,463.35. <br />Staff is recommending that the contract now be awarded to the <br />second low bidder, Fisher McGann, in the amount of $63,566. <br />Since this bid is $14,299 more than the low bid ($49,267), <br />additional funding is required. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Road and Bridge Division FY 88/89 budget has $35,000 budgeted in <br />line item 111-214-541-066.29. In addition, the low bidder's bid <br />bond in the amount of $2,463.35 can be used for funding. <br />Additional funding in the amount of $26,102.65 is needed. There <br />remains an unencumbered balance of $193,970 in Road and Bridge <br />Division line item 111-214-541-034.59 (other insurance). It is <br />recommended that a budget amendment be authorized to line <br />transfer the $26,102.65 from line item 034.59 to 066.29. <br />RECOMMENDATION AND FUNDING <br />It is recommended that the second low bidder, Fisher McGann, be <br />awarded the contract in the amount of $63,566 and that a budget <br />amendment be approved to transfer $26,102.65 from Road and Bridge <br />Fund 111-214-541-034.59 (Other Insurance) to 111-214-541-066.29 <br />(Buildings). <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously approved <br />Budget Amendment #091 and staff's recommendation <br />as set out in the above memo. <br />55 <br />JUL 2b1989 HI `�8/ <br />
