LAND l <br />CONSERI <br />AGRICUL <br />RURAL -1 <br />RURAL -9 <br />LOW -1 <br />Low -2 <br />MEDIUM <br />RECREA <br />PUBLIC <br />Director Keating stated that, in the western part of the <br />county, that is all state owned. <br />Attorney Kindler advised that in the WW Ranch, they have <br />hundreds of acres designated conservation and asked if the county <br />has plans for any compensation for those hundreds of acres. <br />Director Keating believed a lot of those properties are <br />under consideration for acquisition under either the CARL Program <br />or by the U. S. Fish 6 Wildlife Commission for manatee <br />protection. <br />Attorney Kindler pointed out that the CARL Plan can take <br />many years, and a majority of the lands designated on that plan <br />are not purchased by the state. He wished to know if the county <br />has any plans to purchase those lands because he -felt that the <br />CARL Plan is simply a wish list of 60 properties that the state <br />would like to purchase if the funds are available. <br />Director Keating believed that this has been ranked very <br />highly in the latest round, and we are proposing those be <br />23 BOOK ( /� r'4ur. i <br />
