i� <br />r <br />the only land that will be available to put in subdivisions or <br />golf courses, etc. <br />Director Keating explained that this just references the AG <br />designated land on the Plan, not the Agriculturally zoned land in <br />the Urban Service Area. <br />OBJECTIVE 7 PROTECTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES <br />Indian River County will have a land use pattern which <br />complements the natural features of the land including soils and <br />topography, and ensures the protection of natural features, <br />resources and systems. - NO COMMENT <br />OBJECTIVE 8 PROTECTION OF HISTORIC RESOURCES <br />Indian River County will provide for the preservation and <br />protection of historic and archaelogically significant sites, and <br />structures. - NO COMMENT <br />OBJECTIVE 9 PROMOTE AESTHETIC DEVELOPMENT <br />Indian River County will continue to enhance the aesthetic <br />quality of the community through land development regulations <br />that include landscape design requirements, regulate the usage of <br />signs, provide for traffic and parking control and incorporate <br />the use of natural buffers. <br />Chairman Eggert advised that Policy 9.6 was changed and read <br />it as follows: <br />POLICY 9.6: By 1990, Indian River County shall, as part of its <br />land development regulation update pursuant to 5.163.3202(1), <br />F.S., review its sign code regulation standards for the type, <br />location, size, number, and maintenance of signs. <br />Commissioner Bird referred to POLICY 9.4 which states that <br />the county shall plan landscaped entrances to serve as gateways <br />to the county at principal arterial roadway entrances, and <br />believed if we are going to have that policy, we better plan on <br />funding Road 6 Bridge even more heavily in the future. <br />Mr. Risinger referred to the following Policy: <br />POLICY 9.2: Indian River County shall plan and develop scenic <br />parkways, prepare landscape plans for existing and future <br />rights-of-way for urban arterial and collector roadways, and <br />require, through its subdivision ordinance, minimum landscape <br />requirements for local streets and subdivision collectors.
