SURVEYING SERVICES FOR REVISIONS TO OLD DIXIE HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE <br />MAP NEAR OSLO ROAD - WORK ORDER #3 - KIMLEY-HORN AND ASSOCIATES <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 4/9/90: <br />TO: James E. Davis, P.E., <br />Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: Professional Surveying Services for Revisions to <br />the Old Dixie Highway Maintenance Map Near Oslo <br />Road <br />REF. MEMO: Brooks H. Peed, Kimley-Horn, to Jim Davis dated <br />April 4, 1990 <br />DATE: April 9, 1990 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On Dec. 12, 1989, the County entered into a Work Order with <br />Kimley-Horn and Associates for professional. Engineering <br />Services to design widening/signalization improvement for <br />Oslo Road from US 1 to a point 500' west of Old Dixie <br />Highway. Major intersection improvements at Old Dixie <br />Highway are included. <br />In surveying the design area, the Consultant and County <br />Surveyor have discovered errors in the existing Maintenance <br />Map for Old Dixie Highway in the project area. This map was <br />filed by the Florida DOT prior to the County obtaining <br />jurisdiction of the road in 1978. In order for proper legal <br />descriptions to be written for additional right-of-way <br />acquisition, the Maintenance Map must be corrected and a new <br />map recorded in the public records. In order to accomplish <br />this work, the Public Works Department has prepared the <br />attached Work Order # 3 between Kimley-Horn and Associates, <br />Inc. and Indian River County. The agreed upon compensation <br />for the work is $14,800. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The alternatives are as follows: <br />Alternative #1 <br />Approve the attached Work Order # 3 under the Master <br />Agreement between Kimley-Horn and Associates and Indian <br />River County. The cost of the work is $14,800. A new <br />Maintenance Map will be prepared and presented to the <br />Board for approval. <br />Alternative #2 <br />The incorrect Maintenance Map should be corrected. To <br />make. the work more competitive, issue a request for <br />proposals and select a firm to perform the services in <br />accordance with CCNA procedures. This alternative may <br />delay the project implementation. ' <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />1't is recommended that Alternative # 1 be approved whereby <br />the attached Work Order # 3 is approved.
