MAY 11990 <br />BOOK 19 PAGE ztj <br />agrees that the transition to a PC system is the better option. <br />That alternative will enhance concurrency management, facilitate <br />building and planning coordination, provide a better building <br />permit/ inspection system, free up space on the 400, and reduce <br />clerk (data programming staff) time. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners authorize <br />the community development department to pursue transfer of the <br />building division's permit/inspection system from the 400 to a PC <br />system. <br />Commissioner Scurlock asked if the PC system provides enough <br />capacity for the future, and Robert Keating, Director of <br />Community Development, advised that there is no problem with <br />capacity, and assured Commissioner Scurlock that this system <br />would be functional for at least 5 years. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, that the Board approve staff's <br />recommendation to authorize the Community Development <br />Department to pursue transfer of the Building <br />Division's permit/inspection system from the 400 to a <br />PC system. <br />Under discussion, Attorney Vitunac advised that both the <br />Planning Dept. and the Utilities Department have requested that <br />the County Attorney's Office switch over to the PC system as <br />well, and he would be asking for money at budget time to do that. <br />THE VICE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. The. Motion <br />was voted on and carried unanimously (4-0, Chairman <br />Eggert being absent). <br />46 <br />
