7 J <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt the control mechanism for <br />authorizing work was on the part of the engineer, and he felt we <br />need to send a message to him that if he is going to exceed that <br />limit, there is going to be a penalty far that. <br />Administrator Chandler emphasized that they were aware on <br />the front end that there was a maximum amount, which is why we <br />pursued negotiation with them. <br />Commissioner Scurlock explained that the reason he would <br />move to go ahead and authorize the additional payment is because <br />it is something that we would have needed and because there has <br />been considerable negotiation for a fair price. <br />The Commissioners emphasized that they didn't want this to <br />happen again. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously <br />approved an additional payment to Boyle Engineering <br />Corporation of $7,779.12 over the existing approved <br />$15,000 limit, as recommended by staff. <br />WORK AUTHORIZATION NO. 2 WILL BE PLACED ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF <br />THE CLERK TO THE BOARD WHEN FULLY EXECUTED AND RECEIVED <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF McLARTY MUSEUM <br />The Board reviewed the following Project Summary: <br />PROJECT SUMMARY: Public Educational Exhibit -- McLarty Museum <br />PURPOSE: <br />The McLarty Museum traditionally has been known as a <br />"treasure" museum. Funding is being requested to use newly <br />available information about this important shipwreck site to create <br />new educational exhibits. The quincentennial celebration --in 1992 <br />should mark the opening of a new direction for exhibits at this <br />museum.
