BACKGROUND <br />The County, in recent years, has purchased property immediately north of <br />the current County Administration Building for the new Health Department <br />Building, additional parking for the County Administration Building, and <br />future uses. The Board, during its January 8, 1991 regular meeting, <br />approved the purchase of Lot 2, Block 7 for -$26,500. County -owned <br />properties are outlined on the attached map. <br />CURRENT <br />The owners of Lot 3, Block 7 of the Booker T. Washington SID 12622 17th <br />Avenue) has offered their property for sale at $23,000. The owners also <br />want to continue to rent the property under a lease agreement until the <br />County needs the property. <br />RECOMMENDATION = <br />Staff recommends the Board Chairman execute the purchase contractfor <br />$23,000, approve budget amendment # 017 which includes an additional $1,000 <br />for potential closing costs, and approve the lease agreement. Funding for <br />this acquisition would come from Fund 315, optional one cent sales tax <br />account. <br />RD/mg <br />attachments: Map of County -owned properties <br />Budget Amendment # 017 <br />Purchase Contract <br />Lease Agreement <br />Administrator Chandler advised that staff is proposing that <br />we enter into a lease upon closing with the property owner <br />whereby he could remain on the property at $1 per year for the <br />first year. The second year would be on a month to month basis <br />at $200 per month and a 60"day notification. He noted that with <br />this acquisition, there would be only one lot remaining in that <br />entire block to be acquired. _ <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />the purchase contract for $23,000, Budget Amendment <br />#017, and the Lease Agreement, as set out in the above <br />staff recommendation. <br />LEASE AGREEMENT WILL BE PLACED ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK <br />TO THE BOARD WHEN FULLY EXECUTED AND RECEIVED <br />JANI 22 1.991 <br />B00K CC -L <br />11 <br />
