1.17 CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING SYSTEMS <br />A. The Contractor shall perform all work necessary to locate, excavate and prepare for <br />connections to the existing wastewater treatment plant system as shown on the Drawings <br />or where directed by the Owner. The cost for this work and for the actual connection to the <br />existing wastewater treatment plant system shall be included in the bid for the project and <br />shall not result in any additional cost to the Owner. <br />B. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to expose as required, the existing pipes at the <br />tie-in locations and, if necessary, any buried utilities in the immediate area of the tie-in <br />that may affect the installation of new pipe as shown on the Drawings. Contractor is fully <br />responsible for ordering any additional material, such as fittings and restrained pipe that <br />may be needed to avoid existing buried utilities should such material not be shown on the <br />Drawings or included in the Schedule of Prices. The Contractor may not schedule any <br />tie-in activity until such additional material is on site and a specific detailed plan is <br />approved by the Engineer in accordance with Section 01014. <br />1.18 OBSTRUCTIONS <br />A. The attention of the Contractor is drawn to the fact that during excavation at the Project <br />site, the possibility exists of the Contractor encountering various water, chemical, <br />electrical, or other lines not shown on the Drawings.
