ON - MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Wheeler, the Board unanimously <br />authorized the Department of Utility Services to <br />conduct negotiations and to proceed with an <br />agreement with the first choice firm of Masteller <br />and Moler, Inc.; and to proceed with negotiations <br />with the second and/or third selection if <br />negotiations fail,.as recommended by staff. <br />WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT - ROCKRIDGE - WORK AUTHORIZATION NO 3 <br />CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 <br />The Board reviewed memo from Utility Services Director Terry <br />Pinto dated February 14, 1992: <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 14, 1.992 <br />TO: JAMES E. MCMAHON a,I'Z!4z <br />AND STAFFED ENVIRONMENTAL SPEC ST <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT - ROCKRIDGE <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT NO. UW -91 -22 -DS <br />WORK AUTHORIZATION NO. 3 <br />CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On October 15, 1991, the Board of County Commissioners approved Work <br />Authorization No. 3 with Driveways, Inc., for the amount of $108,890.77 <br />to replace the water distribution system in the Rockridge Subdivision <br />(see attached agenda item). Work on this replacement was started in <br />December 1991. <br />ANALYSIS <br />Driveways, Inc., has installed the new replacement piping on 9 of the <br />23 blocks of the subdivision. At this time 49 houses of the total 335 <br />houses in the subdivision have been connected to the new lines. The <br />contractor has had to remove trees and rock, and install additional <br />fittings, sample points and permanent blowoffs that were not <br />anticipated when the work authorization was approved for this job. The <br />unit prices of the items were previously approved on the labor bid. <br />The net increase of this additional work is $19,776.00, as detailed in <br />the attached Change Order No. 1. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends that the <br />Board of County Commissioners approve Change Order No. 1 for Work <br />authorization No. 3 with Driveways, Inc., for the amount of $19,776.00 <br />and authorize the Chairman to execute this change order. <br />53 <br />r= `997 <br />
