The attached Change Order No. 8 includes an increase in the <br />amount of $78,540 for 17,000 CY of additional embankment <br />material. Change Order No. 8 also includes a deduct in the <br />amount of $13,535.66 for 13,535.66 CY of stockpiled fill <br />provided by the County. This fill was loaded and hauled to <br />the Indian River Boulevard site by the contractor, Sheltra & <br />Son Construction Co., from a county borrow pit located at <br />4th Street and 74th Avenue. The. -net change in contract <br />price for change Order No. 8 is an increase in the amount of <br />$65,004.34. <br />Change Order No. 8 represents a final settlement on contract <br />quantities for subsoil excavation, rock removal, disposal of <br />unsuitable material and embankment material for all <br />construction within the original project limits. <br />It is anticipated that some additional work will be <br />performed outside the original limits of construction. This <br />work includes construction of an access road for the Indian <br />River Mosquito Control District to a proposed pump station <br />on the North Canal and excavation of .5 acres to create a <br />salt marsh from existing uplands as mitigation for impacts <br />associated with construction of Phase IV. Any subsoil <br />excavation, rock removal, disposal of unsuitable material <br />and embankment material associated with work outside the <br />original limits of construction is not included in the <br />settlement and will be subject to change order. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />Authorize Change Order No. 8, this would result in a <br />revised contract amount of $2,956,515.24. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />Deny authorization of Change Order No. 8 and <br />re -negotiate. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 1.
