Writing and Distributing News releases <br /> ESF#14 is responsible for creating and distributing all incident-related public information during an EOC <br /> activation. <br /> 1. Once the EOC is activated, ESF#14 will be responsible for fact-checking before anything is <br /> released to the public and/or press. <br /> 2. Press releases will be drafted by using either the pre-scripted press releases or press release <br /> template. <br /> 3. A folder should be created for each day of an event and files saved into that folder for archival <br /> purposes. <br /> 4. Route press release to the emergency management director for approval, unless given the <br /> authority to distribute without review. <br /> 5. Print a copy of the press release for the Approved Press Release binder located in the EOC. <br /> 6. Make a copy of the press release to post in the media room. <br /> 7. E-mail the press release to the media distribution group. <br /> Press Conferences and Interviews <br /> 1 . ESF#14 will establish a press conference schedule as soon as possible. It is recommended to <br /> keep a regular schedule (i.e., 10:00 am and 2:00 pm). <br /> 2 . Develop your talking points and gather facts (see Appendix B for a job aid) before talking to <br /> media.The key to a good interview is being prepared! <br /> 3 . In between press conferences, ESF#14 must be prepared to answer incoming phone call <br /> requests for interviews.Any calls received by the general public should be routed to the <br /> Emergency Information Center(772-226-4000). <br /> Indian River County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan Annex VI - 14 <br />
