Showalter, as recommended by <br />staff. <br />COUNTY ROAD 512 - ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT <br />The Board reviewed memo from County Engineer Roger Cain dated <br />June 25, 1992: <br />TO: James Chandler <br />County Administratfolm <br />THROUGH: James W. Davis, P. <br />Public Works Direc <br />FROM: Roger D. Cain, P.E� <br />CountyEngineer <br />SUBJECT: County Road 512, Environmental Assessment <br />DATE: June 25, 1992 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Staff has determined that in order to do an adequate environmental <br />assessment of the construction of County Road 512 and its affect on <br />habitat that a consultant needs to be retained to provide <br />professional services directed toward providing reports and <br />consultation to aid the County in obtaining permits and approvals <br />for this construction. Reviewing agencies such as the U.S. Fish <br />and Wildlife Department, which are routinely sent copies of all <br />Corps of Engineer Dredge & Fill Permits, require adequate analysis <br />and feasible mitigation for all ecological consequences of the <br />projects reviewed. <br />This contract amount of $5,000.00 is less than that required to go <br />through the Consultant Competitive Negotiation procedure, therefore <br />the Board can approve this contract without advertising. B.K.I. is <br />recommended by other engineering firms which have used their <br />services and has done the same kind of work as contemplated on our <br />project. The qualifications of the Members of the firm are listed <br />in the back-up material. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />Alternative 1: Approve the contract with B.K.I. and authorize <br />the Chairman to execute the contract on behalf <br />of the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Alternative 2: Not approve the contract. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative 1 with funding coming from the County <br />Road 512 Account No. 101-153-541-067.13 <br />56 <br />
