c. If, at the time of excavation, it is not possible to place any material in its proper position <br />in the permanent construction or landfill operation, it shall be stockpiled in approved <br />areas for later use. <br />d. The Contractor shall not raise or lower the grade shown in the operations permit submittal <br />document. The right is reserved by the County to make minor adjustments or revisions in <br />lines or grades, if found necessary, as the Work progresses to obtain satisfactory <br />construction and operation. <br />e. All cut -and -fill slopes shall be uniformly dressed to the slope, cross section, and <br />alignment indicated on the Drawings. All slope surfaces shall be compacted after final <br />grading with at least three passes with approved compaction equipment therefore to <br />produce a smooth, dense, stable surface. <br />f. AB boulders, rocks, cobbles, construction rubble, and other items, 4 inches or greater in <br />size, encountered and removed from the excavation in executing the Work, regardless of <br />the size of equipment employed by the Contractor to accomplish this work, shall be <br />considered deleterious material. The Contractor shall remove and discard this material <br />on-site within a reasonable time, as determined by the County, at no cost to the County. <br />In the event that deleterious material has been excavated from below the required grades <br />indicated on the Drawings, the Contractor shall backfill and grade the excavation in the <br />manner specified. <br />3.03 Seepage and Flood Flows <br />a. The Contractor shall take all necessary precautions and shall furnish equipment, if <br />required, to handle any groundwater, storm, and surface flows that may be encountered at <br />any time during the construction of the Work and operation of the Class I Landfill and <br />shall assume all costs connected therewith. Additionally, if there is seepage from the <br />Class I Landfill arising for any reason other than the design or construction of the Class I <br />Landfill, Contractor shall be responsible for handling such seepage. On the other hand, if <br />such seepage arises from the design or construction of the Class I Landfill, the Contractor <br />shall be responsible for handling such seepage, and County shall reimburse Contractor for <br />all costs incurred in handling such seepage. The manner of providing for these flows <br />shall be subject to the approval of the County. <br />b. The Contractor shall be responsible for drying purchased soils excavated from any onsite <br />or offsite borrow areas to the proper moisture content for cover placement and <br />compaction. Contractor shall be permitted to defer the drying of any soils used for <br />closure in extreme weather conditions. <br />3.04 Inspection and Testing <br />a.
