BOOK E se <br />Policy 1.4: The county shall support the Indian River County <br />Chamber of Commerce in surveying all businesses having more than 10 <br />employees to identify opportunities and problems associated with <br />their businesses, to identify businesses willing to expand, and to <br />identify businesses considering relocation. County support shall <br />involve staff support in surveying., data analysis, and report <br />preparation. <br />Policy 1.5: By 1993, the county will establish a process whereby <br />business owners with complaints or concerns can obtain assistance. <br />This will involve designating one individual or office to act as <br />facilitator. <br />Policy 1.6: By 1994, the county will develop an industrial <br />relocation source book consisting of planning, zoning, land use, <br />demographic,.- and other socio-economic information helpful to <br />businesses desiring to relocate. <br />Policy 1.7: The county, through the Council of 100, shall provide <br />information on Industrial Development Bonds to new industries and <br />assist new industries in obtaining funding by directing them to the <br />appropriate agency and by providing information needed for the bond <br />applications. <br />OBJECTIVE 2 DIVERSIFIED ECONOMIC GROWTH <br />By 1995, the county will have an'increase of 2 percentage points in <br />year round employment as compared to seasonal employment based on <br />the information published in the Florida Statistical'Abstract. <br />Policy 2.1: The county, through the Indian River County Chamber of <br />Commerce and the Indian River County Council of 100, shall recruit <br />businesses which provide year round employment opportunities. By <br />1994, the county shall establish a mechanism for providing <br />information to these businesses. <br />Policy 2.2: The county will, by 1995, initiate development of an <br />industrial park which will provide platted lots served by adequate <br />infrastructure. This will be a co -development effort between the <br />county an an industrial park developer. <br />Policy 2.3: By 1993, the county shall identify summer businesses <br />whose season could complement tourism and agricultural seasons. <br />The county, through the Indian River County Council of 100, shall <br />target these businesses for recruitment. <br />Policy 2.4: The Indian River County Council of 100 shall identify <br />areas of the country providing summer employment opportunities and <br />make this information available to agricultural related businesses <br />and employees. <br />OBJECTIVE 3 ENCOURAGE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />By 1994, the county will have policies and regulations in effect <br />which encourge economic development. By 2000, water and sewer <br />services will be available to all major commerical/industrial (C/I) <br />nodes within the county. <br />Policy 3.1: The county shall expand water and sewer facilities to <br />the following commercial/industrial nodes in the county according <br />to the needed demand. <br />a.
