The proposed change is in the pressure <br />requirements for water flow in a 3 -story building. Chief Dietz <br />felt that the requirement of 30 psi and 200 gallons a minute <br />provides a reasonable flow for firefighting purposes and would <br />lessen the cost to builders and developers of 3 -story buildings. <br />Chief Dietz further explained that the -proposed ordinance would <br />bring us into concurrence with the 1993 National Fire Protection <br />Association (NFPA) standards. <br />Vice Chairman Bowman thought the height of the building should <br />be stated in feet rather than stories. <br />Assistant County Attorney Terry O"Brien advised that the <br />standard building code refers to 113 stories or 50 feet," and that <br />phrase could be included in the amendment to Section 4fl1.12. <br />34 <br />
