DEC 22 1992 <br />BOOK 88 PA F.363 -7 <br />REQUEST FOR BLOCK PARTY - IST LANE BETWEEN 40TH COURT AND 39TH <br />DRIVE <br />Public Works Director Jim Davis presented the following memo <br />dated December 14, 1992: <br />TO: : James E. Chandler, <br />County Administrator <br />THROUGH: James W. Davis, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />FROM: Jeanne Bresett <br />Traffic Coordinator <br />SUBJECT: Request for Block Party <br />lot Lane between 40th Court and 39th Drive <br />REF. LETTER: Mr. Norman Hensick, Jr. to Public <br />Works Department dated December 14, 1992 <br />DATE: December 14, 1992 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Residents of The Woodlands Subdivision have requested permission to <br />close a portion of lot Lane between 40th Court and 39th Drive for <br />their annual New Year's Eve block party. The residents are asking <br />for permission to close the road from 6:00 P.M. to 1:00 A.M. the <br />evening of December 31, 1992. Staff has no objections to this <br />request, provided that: <br />1) Proper barricades are installed by the Traffic -Engineering <br />Division or the residents of the homeowner's association and <br />that the block representative contact the Traffic Engineering <br />Division at 770-5118 seventy-two (72) hours prior to the event. <br />2) A block representative be listed as a contact person in charge <br />of the event in case the road needs to be opened. <br />3) Access to emergency vehicles be maintained. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS & FUNDING <br />Staff recommends approval. No funding is applicable. <br />Director Davis mentioned that perhaps the Board would like to <br />give staff the authority to approve these in the future without <br />bringing the request before the Board. <br />Director Bird commented that staff could bring requests before <br />the Board that they do not feel comfortable about approving. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously approved <br />the request of Norman Hensick Jr. for a Block Party <br />at lst Lane between 40th Court and 39th Drive on <br />December 31, 1992, and authorized staff to approve <br />future requests without action by the Board, except <br />for those situations where they have a questiorr. <br />30 <br />
