ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Macht, the Board unanimously approved <br />the final pay request and Change Order #1 of Schopke <br />Construction & Engineering, Inc., as recommended by <br />staff. <br />CHANGE ORDER';#5�IAND FINAL PAY REQUEST ARE ON <br />.FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />UPDATE ON COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS <br />Chairman Tippin reported that we have a number of committees <br />with vacancies, but we have had only one response to our newspaper <br />ad. <br />Commissioner Bird advised that he talked to an individual <br />yesterday who is sending in a resume for appointment to the Board <br />of Adjustment. With regard to the Professional Services Advisory <br />Committee, he suggested that Chairman Tippin call J. B. Norton of <br />the Chamber of Commerce for the names of good, qualified people to <br />6, fill those vacancies. <br />Chairman Tippin wanted to see the Commissioners do more <br />recruiting along those lines rather than relying on newspaper <br />advertising. <br />Commissioner Eggert agreed; she felt that over the long term, <br />it is not fair to depend on the chairmen of the various committees <br />to recruit members to fill vacancies. <br />REPORT ON P.E.P. REEF <br />Commissioner Adams gave a brief report on last week's seminar <br />in Tampa on beach and shore preservation technology, noting that it <br />was pretty much devoted to alternative technology. There is a lot <br />of pressure on Tallahassee not to do anything other than sand <br />pumping because many engineering firms have true vested interests <br />in sand pumping design, and the money involved is quite extensive. <br />Commissioner Adams reported that IRC's permit application is <br />being moved through the system with a few exceptions with some <br />objective views. She recalled that at the Commission meeting two <br />weeks ago it was left that she and Don Donaldson, the County's <br />coastal engineer, would negotiate to try and get the cost down on <br />the numerical model. At this point, she felt they have pretty much <br />knocked that out.
