Davis, P.E. <br />Public Works Director <br />FROM: Don Donaldson, P.E. <br />Coastal Engineer — t - <br />SUBJECT: Consultant Services Ranking <br />Vero Lake Estates, MSSW Permitting <br />DATE: March 29, 1994 <br />Indian River County solicited Proposals from interested consultants to <br />provide professional engineering and land surveying services for the <br />permitting of -drainage improvements in the Vero Lakes Estates Subdivision. <br />A general description of the scope of work includes but is not limited to <br />the following: <br />The engineering design and MSSW permitting for retrofitting the Vero <br />Lakes Estates backbone drainage system; including detention <br />facilities, conveyance. ditches and water quality best management <br />practices. <br />Ten (10) proposals were received and reviewed by the selection committee. <br />The selection committee consisted of Roger Cain, Don Donaldson, and Dave <br />Cox. The committee short-listed three firms and interviewed the short <br />listed firms. The resultant ranking of firms by the selection committee <br />is as follows: <br />1. Carter and Associates, Inc. <br />2. Knight, McGuire and Associates <br />3. Coastal Technology Corporation <br />The committee recommends that staff be authorized to negotiate a contract <br />with the highest ranked firm. If staff is unable to negotiate a <br />satisfactory contract with the first ranked consultant, County staff will <br />terminate negotiations with the first ranked consultant and undertake <br />negotiations with the second ranked consultant and so forth until a <br />satisfactory contract is agreed upon. Funding is from Account #185-214- <br />541-033.13 <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously authorized <br />staff to negotiate a contract with the highest <br />ranked firm, as recommended by staff. <br />106 <br />
