FAGE 631 <br />Staff recommends approval of the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreemen.V•and <br />request the Board authorize the Chairman to execute the agreement. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Adams, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />the Statewide Mutual Aid Agreement, as recommended <br />by staff. <br />AGREEMENT <br />IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER JEFFREY WEST TO ISSUE <br />VIOLATION CITATIONS <br />The Board reviewed memo from Emergency Services Director Doug <br />Wright dated June 1, 1994: <br />TO: Honorable Board of County Commissioners - <br />22ROUGH: James Chandler - _ <br />County Adminisrator <br />FROM: Doug Wright, Director — <br />Department of Emergency Services <br />DATE: June 1, 1994 <br />SUBJECT: Authorization for Animal Control Officer Jeffrey West to <br />Issue Violation Citations and Approval of Resolution <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein <br />be given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners <br />at the next regular scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On May 27, 1994, Animal Control Officer Jeffrey West -successfully <br />completed the Florida Animal Control Officer Training Program <br />approved by the Florida Animal Control Association_(FACA). <br />Pursuant to Chapter 302 of the Indian River County Code entitled <br />Animal Control and Kennel Regulations, specifically Section 302.06, <br />and Chapter 828.27, Florida Statutes, the above referenced employee <br />is hereby recommended for appointment and approval to issue <br />citations for animal control violations. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Although the animal control officer -has been employed in excess of <br />five months, he has not been authorized to issue citations until <br />the statutory training was completed. The fact that the Animal <br />Control Officer certification courses are only given twice* each <br />year by the Florida Animal Control Association has also contributed <br />to the delay in obtaining the necessary certification. <br />32 "` <br />
