1.06 <br />I. Specialists: Certain sections of the Specifications require that specific construction activ- <br />ities shall be performed by entities who are recognized experts in those operations. Spe- <br />cialists shall satisfy qualification requirements indicated and shall be engaged for the ac- <br />tivities indicated. <br />J. Testing Agency Qualifications: An agency with the experience and capability to conduct <br />testing and inspecting indicated, as documented by ASTM E 548, and that specializes in <br />types of tests and inspections to be performed. <br />K. Fabricator Qualifications: A firm experienced in producing products similar to those indi- <br />cated for this Project and with a record of successful in-service performance, as well as <br />sufficient production capacity to produce required units. <br />L. Factory -Authorized Service Representative Qualifications: An authorized representative <br />of manufacturer who is trained and approved by manufacturer to inspect installation of <br />manufacturer's products that are similar in material, design, and extent to those indicated <br />for this Project. <br />QUALITY CONTROL <br />A. The authorized representatives and agents of Owner shall be permitted to inspect all work, <br />materials, payrolls, records of personnel, invoices of materials, and other relevant data and <br />records. <br />B. Owner Responsibilities: Where quality -control services are indicated as Owner's respon- <br />sibility, Owner will engage a qualified testing agency to perform these services. <br />1. Owner will furnish Contractor with names, addresses, and telephone numbers of <br />testing agencies engaged and a description of the types of testing and inspecting <br />they are engaged to perform. <br />2. Costs for retesting and reinspecting construction that replaces or is necessitated by <br />work that failed to comply with the Contract Documents will be charged to Con- <br />tractor. <br />C. Contractor's Responsibilities: <br />1. Repair and protection of work and materials are Contractor's responsibility. <br />2. Should any work or materials not conform with requirements of the Specifications <br />or become damaged during the progress of the work, such work or materials shall <br />be removed and replaced, together with any work disarranged by such alterations, <br />at any time before completion and acceptance of the project. All such work shall <br />be done at the expense of the Contractor. <br />3. Contractor will coordinate documents with manufacturer and perform such testing, <br />reporting, and communication incidental to provisions of the warranty procedures. <br />4. Inclement Weather <br />a. In the event of temporary suspension of work as during inclement weather, <br />or whenever the Engineer shall direct, the Contractor will protect carefully <br />its work and materials against damage or injury from weather. If, in the <br />opinion of the Engineer, any work or materials have been damaged or in- <br />jured by reason of failure of the Contractor to protect its work, such mate- <br />rials shall be removed and replaced at the expense of the Contractor. <br />b.
