PHASE II <br />FINAL PAY REQUEST AND FINAL CHANGE ORDER <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT NO. UW -91 -17 -WC <br />BACKGROUND - <br />93 PACUL 906 <br />On November 10, 1992 the Indian River County Board of County <br />Commissioners awarded the above -referenced project to Wharton -Smith, <br />Inc., in the amount of $2,345,000.00. Previous change orders <br />approved by the Board of County Commissioners increased the contract <br />by $6,740.85, making the current total $2,351,740.85. As a result <br />of problems with the general contractor's instrumentation <br />subcontractor, the substantial completion date exceeded the contract <br />by 270± days. The County has incurred additional engineering costs <br />as a result of this delay as well as additional in-house costs. The <br />engineer, contractor, and the County have negotiated a damage <br />settlement in an effort to bring the project to a close. Details of <br />this settlement are presented in the analysis portion of this <br />document. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The final change order is in the amount of - <$77,117.00>. The <br />proposed distribution of these funds are as follows: <br />* 1. Additional engineering < $64,000.00 > <br />** 2.
