H. Proposed Constitutional Amendment <br />The Board reviewed a Memorandum of December 21, 1994: <br />TO: Board of County Commissioners <br />FROM: 018e)8 P. itunac, County Attorney <br />DATE: December 21, 1994 <br />RE: Proposed Constitutional Amendment <br />Seminole County has asked our County to support a resolution supporting <br />a constitutional amendment relating to local control of gaming <br />activities. <br />If the Board agrees with Seminole County, attached is a resolution of <br />support for a constitutional amendment to correct this problem. <br />2ECO1rMIDATION: Adopt attached resolution. <br />Commissioner Adams inquired whether the County would be forced <br />to allow the gambling if the State were to vote for the gambling <br />issue and Indian River County were against the issue. <br />Attorney Vitunac advised that the issue would not be effective <br />in Indian River County unless the County had an additional election <br />and the issue were voted in. Attorney Vitunac also stated that any <br />vote in favor of gambling in Indian River County would be subject <br />to local zoning codes. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution 95-04, advocating an amendment to the <br />State Constitution which would provide local control <br />of gaming and gambling activities, pursuant to <br />recommendations by staff. <br />JANUARY 3, 1995 16 <br />Bou 94 P�,�r 16 <br />
