a <br />18.07 Upon successful completion of their trial period, Fire Inspectors who have at least 5 years of <br />experience with Indian River County Emergency Services will be promoted to Lieutenant <br />Fire Inspector, only after applicable testing. <br />18.08 The following promotional process shall be followed: <br />RAW SCORES: <br />EXAM SCORES TOTAL SCORE (300 Points max) <br />Multiple choice written test 100 Points max <br />Practical scenario test 200 Points max <br />TOTAL MAXIMUM RAW SCORE 300 Points <br />The written test will be 100 multiple choice questions scored at 1 point each. The exam will be <br />taken from job specific areas for each rank. Maximum score for written exam is 100 points. An <br />employee who does not score an 80% (or greater) on the written exam will not be eligible to take the <br />practical scenario test and will not be considered for the promotion. Additionally, an employee that <br />does not score an 80% (or greater) will be excluded from working out of rank until the employee <br />completes remedial training and is approved by the Emergency Services Director or his designee. <br />For Officers, the practical test will be comprised of scenario -based situations that will test the <br />applicant's oral and reasoning skills, as well as their incident management capability. For <br />Driver/Engineers, the practical test will be comprised of two scenario- based situations (driving and <br />pumping) that will test the applicant's oral and reasoning skills, as well as their incident <br />management capability. As in the past, they will need to recall and verbalize their instructions based <br />on the SDP's, meeting prescribed benchmarks, as well as using their common sense and job <br />experience. Outside evaluators from other Fire Departments will evaluate and grade each applicant <br />unless otherwise agreed upon. Maximum score for the practical test is 200 points. An employee <br />who does not score an 80% (or greater) on any portion of the practical test will not be considered for <br />the promotion. Additionally, an employee that does not score an 80% (or greater) on any portion of <br />the practical test will be excluded from working out of rank until the employee successfully <br />completes remedial training and is approved by the Emergency Services Director or his designee. <br />31 <br />
