IRC-1838 Indian River County <br />Main Library <br />Roof Replacement 01 40 00-1 Quality Requirements <br />SECTION 01 40 00 <br />QUALITY REQUIREMENTS <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 SECTION INCLUDES <br />A. This Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for quality assurance <br />and quality control. <br />1.02 DEFINITIONS <br />A. Quality-Assurance Services: Activities, actions, and procedures performed before and dur- <br />ing execution of the Work to guard against defects and deficiencies and ensure that pro- <br />posed construction complies with requirements. <br />B. Quality-Control Services: Tests, inspections, procedures, and related actions during and <br />after execution of the Work to evaluate that completed construction comply with require- <br />ments. Services do not include contract enforcement activities performed by Engineer. <br />C. Testing Agency: An entity engaged to perform specific tests, inspections, or both. Testing <br />laboratory shall mean the same as testing agency. <br />1.03 DELEGATED DESIGN <br />A. Performance and Design Criteria: Where professional design services or certifications by <br />a design professional are specifically required of Contractor by the Contract Documents, <br />provide products and systems complying with specific performance and design criteria in- <br />dicated. <br />1. If criteria indicated are not sufficient to perform services or certification required, <br />submit a written request for additional information to Engineer/Owner. <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Permits, Licenses, and Certificates: For Owner's records, submit copies of permits, li- <br />censes, certifications, inspection reports, releases, jurisdictional settlements, notices, re- <br />ceipts for fee payments, judgments, correspondence, records, and similar documents, es- <br />tablished for compliance with standards and regulations bearing on performance of the <br />Work. <br />1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. It is the intent under this contract that workmanship shall be of the best quality consistent <br />with the materials and construction methods specified. The presence or absence of the <br />Owner’s or Engineer’s representative shall in no way relieve the Contractor of his respon- <br />sibility to furnish materials and construction in full compliance with the drawings and spec- <br />ifications. The Owner and Engineer shall have the authority to judge the quality and require <br />replacement of unacceptable work or personnel at any time. <br />B. Contractor and Subcontractors shall cooperate in the execution of their work and shall plan <br />their work in such manners as to avoid conflicting schedules or delay of work. If any part <br />of a Contractor's work depends upon the work of their Subcon-tractor, defects, which may <br />affect that work, shall be reported to the Engineer/Owner in order that prompt inspection <br />may be made, and defects corrected. Commencement of work by the Contractor or their <br />Subcontractor where such condition exists will constitute acceptance of the other Contrac- <br />tor's work as being satisfactory in all respects to receive the work commenced, except
