Proclamation - Crime Victims' Rights Week <br />PROCLAMATION <br />0 <br />WHEREAS, one violent crime is committed in America every 15 <br />seconds; and <br />WHEREAS, thirty-five million Americans fall victim to violent <br />crime each year in the United States and are rapidly <br />becoming a majority; and <br />WHEREAS, crime victims play an indispensable role in bringing <br />offenders to justice and, thus, preventing further <br />violence; and <br />WHEREAS, as a nation devoted to liberty and justice for all, <br />America must plant the seeds of justice to protect and <br />rgstore crime victims' rights; and <br />WHEREAS, harvesting justice over the past two decades has been <br />accomplished in part by the millions of survivors of <br />crime, their families and advocates whose commitment and <br />s irit has persevered while confronting an increasingly <br />violent nation; and <br />WHEREAS. Indian River County is joining forces with victim service <br />programa, criminal justice officials and concerned <br />citizens throughout Indian River County to observe <br />National Crime Victims' Rights Week: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, •BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the <br />week of April 23-29, 1995 be designated as <br />CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK <br />in Indian River County, and the Board reaffirms' its commitment to <br />address victims' rights and criminal justice issues during 1995 and <br />throughout the year. <br />Adopted this 18th day of April, 1995. <br />4 <br />APRIL 18, 1995 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY CO[MMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />IENLNETH R.
