8. SMS Training, Awareness & Competencies <br /> This aspect of the SMS is a requirement for establishing initial competency and for on-going <br /> competence building.Additionally, this is a method for demonstration of the SMS and its <br /> contribution to safety culture development. <br /> Senior Resource Association will appropriately train employees at each relevant function and <br /> level such that they are aware of: <br /> • The SMS Safety Policy <br /> • The SMS Safety Culture Policy <br /> • The importance of conformance with SMS <br /> • Individual roles and responsibilities specific to the SMS <br /> • General hazard reporting requirements of the SMS <br /> • General accident/incident or near-miss reporting and investigation requirements <br /> Senior.Resource Association's SMS training takes into account different levels of responsibility <br /> and risk to ensure that there is an appropriate awareness among employees and managers as to <br /> what their role responsibilities are. In accordance with the above policy objectives, Senior <br /> Resource Association will provide SMS training as follows: <br /> • Senior Leaders/Accountable Managers/Senior Managers: Awareness of SMS roles and <br /> responsibilities, safety policy, safety culture policy, SMS requirements, related <br /> DOT/FTA regulations, management commitment and responsibilities, and safety <br /> performance monitoring responsibilities. <br /> • Managers and Supervisors: SMS policy, hazard identification and risk management, <br /> safety performance monitoring responsibilities. <br /> • Frontline personnel: SMS Overview, SMS policy, safety culture policy,hazard <br /> identification and risk assessment procedure, accident/incident investigation process <br /> 114 <br />
