MAPPING DIVISION <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT <br />HERITAGE ESTATES / COLONIAL TERRACE <br />IRC HID NO. 4007, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT NO. <br />UW -95 -16 -DS, WORK AUTHORIZATION NO. 31 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On September 29, 1993, the Board of County Commissioners approved <br />the award of the labor contract bid to Driveways, Inc., Bid No. <br />4007. (See Attached Minutes.) The Department of Utility Services <br />utilizes the labor contract for renewal and replacement to replace <br />the distribution system within various areas. This is in response <br />to the continuing problems of rusting, leaking and low pressure <br />with the existing galvanized water lines. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The subject project is comprised of the replacement of existing 2" <br />galvanized water line with approximately 200 linear feet of 2" PVC <br />water main and 1,395 linear feet of service laterals along with 85 <br />meter connections. <br />The cost of the labor to construct the 2" PVC water main under the <br />labor contract is $46,823.97 (see attached work authorization No. <br />31 with Driveways, Inc.). The pipe, valves, and fittings will be <br />supplied by the County at a cost of $31,165.86. In-house <br />engineering, inspection, and administration costs are estimated to <br />be $9,000.00. <br />The construction of these replacement water lines is a part of a <br />continuing effort by the Department to replace galvanized water <br />lines in Indian River County. Funding for this project will be <br />from renewal..and replacement funds. <br />JUNE 139 1995 <br />103 <br />
