If
If
114
fl-
If
n . c aY vit , d2IfI ' ll
fW
owns 80 acres of agriculturally- zoned property on 82 "d Avenue between 1St Street SW and
5 " Street SW .He believes there must be a better solution to this dilemma because it will
lead to a population influx . He related how the Aerodrome was built in a remote area of the
county so it would surrounded by buffering lands zoned both agricultural and commercial .
It was built with the intention of avoiding conflict with people on nearby properties who
would object to the noise . He enumerated sacrifices made by Aerodrome residents to live
there and that they relied on the County to maintain the Comprehensive Plan . He feared that
allowing additional development nearby will bring an excessive number ofp eop le which
will surely result in complaints about aircraft noise and conflict that the County Commission
might be faced with resolving in the future . He believed this was not a proper way to solve
the problem of a citrus grower whose property is miles closer to town on 58 "' Avenue .
Karen Crowe , 255 W . 27 " Street, New York City 10001 , advised her family has a
citrus grove directly to the south of Mr . Clontz ' . Her concerns were operation of that grove
and community planning of the area . She thought 58t"
Avenue creates a visual boundary and
with the creation of a T , the logical and physical boundary line will be blurred and will push
the problem further toward the agricultural property down the road If the boundary is
going to be blurred , it might make sense to look for another physical boundary which she
thought might be the church (Church of God) which already has an elementary school and
is proposing an intermediate and high school . She indicated she inight be looking for relief
also if this boundary is not stabilized .
Phil Hipe , 345 Nieuport Drive , 32968 , was trying to preserve the way of life he chose
15 years ago .He was opposed to a subdivision along 82 "' Avenue .He felt this proposal
was wrong . He suggested the money be taken out of the equation and suggested the Board
do what is best for their neighbors and friends because the people are the backbone of Indian
River County .
October 16 , 2001
102
