UW -93 -30 -DS <br />BACKGROUND <br />On January 24, 1995, Change Order No. 3 with Speegle Construction <br />was approved in the amount of $577,120.00 to extend water service <br />through the south end of Sebastian along Indian River Drive. (See <br />attached agenda item and minutes.). On March 14, 1995, Change Order <br />No. 4 was approved, which paid the contractor for oversizing the <br />water main to the County's Master -planned size. (See attached <br />agenda item and minutes.) The County is now requesting approval of <br />a final reconciliation change order and retainage reduction for <br />line oversizing. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The cost increase to the County for this change order is <br />$20,017.87. However, the County's North US 1 project is being <br />finaled with an overall cost below the awarded contract amount., <br />Also, since the project is so near completion, the contractor has <br />requested a reduction in retainage from 10% to 5%. (See letter of <br />recommendation from Engineer.) <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff of the Department of Utility Services recommends approval <br />of Change Order No. 6 and also the retainage reduction to 51% *as <br />reflected in the attached copy of Pay Request No. 5. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Adams, the Board unanimously approved <br />Change Order No. 6 with Speegle Construction and <br />reduced retainage reduction to 5% as recommended by <br />staff . <br />CHANGE ORDER #6 IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />24 <br />November 14, 1995 <br />
