t^ <br />0 <br />to be built or placed therein has been completed as specified. Dewatering shall <br />be done in a manner that will not cause sloughing or caving of the excavation <br />walls. Water from said dewatering shall be disposed of in a manner as will not <br />result in violations of State water quality standards in receiving waters, nor <br />cause injury to public health nor to public or -private property, nor to the work <br />completed or in progress. Any and all damage caused by dewatering shall be1promptlyrepairedbytheContractoratnocosttotheOwner. The receiving <br />point for water from said operation shall be approved by the applicable <br />regulatory agency and the Engineer. The Contractor is responsible for <br />l obtaining all required permits and any other approval necessary. <br />6. REMOVALOF MUCK, ROCK AND OTHER UNSUITABLE MATERIAL <br />A. All muck, rock , clay, marl, gravel, boulders, heterogeneous fill material and <br />any other orga uc or unsuitable "materials of excavation" encountered under <br />pavement areas, structures and utilities shall be excavated and removed. Also <br />any "unforeseen obstacles" such as buried trees or timbers, abandoned <br />utilities, metal objects, concrete masses, or any other type of debris <br />encountered shall be removed. <br />r <br />B. Stripping shall be accomplished to clean in-place sand or other suitable <br />material as approved by the Engineer. Removal of unsuitable material within <br />areas which are to receive footings, slabs or other foundations shall be <br />completed for the full area under such structures and to ten feet minimum <br />outside the maximum perimeter. Where pavement is to be placed, said <br />removal shall include all area under the surface and extend to the outside of <br />shoulders and under sidewalks and bike paths, or as directed by the Engineer. <br />C. All roots, stumps, logs, limbs, timbers, boulders, or any m' <br />aterial <br />which is not <br />suitable for backfill material shall be removed from the site promptly and <br />excavated and disposed of by the Contractor at his expense. <br />l_ <br />D. All "materials of excavation" and "unforeseen obstacles" will be considered as <br />incidental to construction and no additional compensation will be allowed.
