SEC 01400 - QU LxTY COA TROL <br />PART I - GENERAL <br />' 1.01 GENERAL - The work of this section includes Quality <br />Assurance; and the independent laboratory and field <br />rumpling, testing, inspections, supervision and <br />reports of those materials required by the various <br />sections of these specifications. Tests and <br />inspections shall be performed by a recognized <br />Testing Laboratory selected by the Engineer. <br />1.02 COOPERATION <br />A. Testing Laboratory shall cooperate with all trades <br />whose work affects or is affected by the tests and <br />inspections. <br />B. Contractor shall cooperate with and provide assis- <br />tance necessary in taking samples, making field <br />tests and making inspections, and he shall schedule <br />and coordinate his work to hold costs of tests and <br />inspections to a reasonable minimum. <br />1.03 PAYMENTS <br />A. Costs for tests and inspections shall be paid by the <br />Owner except as otherwise specified herein. <br />B. If the results of any test or iDspec Liors indicates <br />failure to meet the specified requirements, the <br />Contractor shall reimburse the Owner for the costs <br />of retesting or reinspection. <br />C. Excessive Inspection Costs incurred due to faulty or <br />improper scheduling, or by unsuitable or wasteful <br />work practices by the contractor or any of his <br />subcontractors shall be reported to the County <br />Engineer by the Inspector involved with such work, <br />and such costs, if determined to be excessive, shall <br />be reimbursed to the Owner by the Contractor. <br />D. Manner of Work - when in the opinion of the <br />Engineer, tests or inspections are required because <br />of the manner in which the Contractor does his work, <br />such as,questionable quality of materials and/or <br />workmanship, questionable sources of material, <br />substitution of materials or sources of same for <br />those previously accepted, or failure of material to <br />comply with specification or plan requirements; such <br />tests or inspections shall be reimbursed to the <br />Owner by the Contractor. <br />01400-1 <br />
