Verify utility locations, whether shown on <br />drawings or not, including, but not limited to <br />aerial, pole line, buried, underground, trans- <br />mission, local service and individual connec- <br />tion. Prior to excavation notify gas and oil <br />pipeline company owners, if any, and other <br />utility companies in accordance with FL 77-153, <br />3.02 <br />EXCAVATION <br />A. <br />Perform all excavations to the elevations required, <br />indicated on Contract Drawings or as specified. <br />1. Excavation is unclassified and includes rock, <br />muck, and all other materials of whatever nature <br />encountered on the site. <br />2. Use any excavation method except blasting or use <br />of explosives. <br />B. <br />Excavated material from the site may be used for <br />embankments and fills, provided that it meets the <br />requirements of this Section, Part 2. Dispose of <br />all other material off-site at a location acceptable <br />to the Owner. <br />3.03 <br />DEWATERING <br />A. <br />Keep the site free of surface water accumulations. <br />Construct temporary drainage ditches and dikes to <br />divert rainwater away from areas important to keep <br />dry. Pump and perform any other work to remove <br />water from excavations. <br />B. <br />Construct, operate and maintain dewatering facili- <br />ties to lower and maintain groundwater level aL <br />least two feet below the foundation excavation. <br />1. Construct trenches, provide and operate well <br />point systems, pumps, sumps and any other means <br />to lower and maintain the groundwater level. <br />3.04 <br />EXCAVATION FOR STRUCTURES AND BACKFILL AROUND <br />STRUCTURES <br />A. Structures shall rest on firm, undisturbed earth or <br />on structural fill compacted to 98W modified proctor <br />maximum density as determined by AASBTO T-1.80. <br />1. If excavations are below the elevation shown on <br />the drawings, the Contractor, at his own <br />expense, shall fill the void thus made to the <br />proper grade with structural fill. <br />a <br />***END OF SECTION*** <br />02200-2 <br />
