EARINWOR'K TESTS AND INSPECTIONS (Division 2) <br />h <br />A. <br />Testing Agency - A recognized Foundation Engineer selected by the Owner <br />i <br />and approved by the Architect, or the Testing Laboratory as specified <br />herein. <br />13. <br />Methods - Compaction tests shall be performed in accordance with <br />r <br />AASHTO T-180. <br />C. <br />Imported Fill Material - Perform suitability tests for compaction qualities <br />and optimum moisture prior to acceptance of material; recommend <br />i <br />compaction equipment and procedure. <br />D. <br />c <br />Field Density Tests on samples of in-place material as follows: <br />Structural Fills under building floor slabs, footings, and sidewalks - <br />at least 98% of maximum density; <br />Non -Structural fills - at least 95% of maximum dry density. <br />E. <br />Field Inspections or continuous control of the following procedures: <br />Stripping of top surface, <br />Scarifying and compacting cleaned sub -grade, <br />[ <br />Structural fills and compaction, <br />Foundation excavations <br />F. <br />Contractor shall notify the soils Testing and Inspecting Agency prior to <br />commencement of earthwork in ample time to schedule tests and <br />inspections. <br />2. CONCRETE TESTS AND INSPECTIONS (Division 3) <br />A. <br />Use ready -mixed concrete, batched, mixed, and transported in accordance <br />with ASTM C94. <br />13. <br />Molded Cylinder Tests - Compression tests of molded cylinders shall be <br />made for each 50 cubic yards or fraction thereof and at least four (4) <br />cylinders from each day's pour. One set of four molded cylinders shall be <br />made for each sampling and shall be properly identified. <br />�f <br />Cylinders shall be taken in accordance with ASTIM C172. <br />Prepare cylinders and cure in the laboratory in accordance with ASTM C31. <br />Cure the cylinders under laboratory conditions and test one at 7 days, one at <br />14 days, one at 28 days, and one 'held in reserve in accordance with ASTM <br />C39. <br />k <br />k. <br />IE -1 <br />
