40 <br />to public or private property, nor to the work completed or in progress. <br />Any and all damage caused by dewatering shall be promptly repaired by the <br />Contractor at no cost to the Owner. The receiving point for water from said <br />operation shall be approved by the applicable regulatory agency and the <br />Engineer. The Contractor is responsible for obtaining all required permits <br />and any other approval necessary. <br />REMOVAL OF MUCK, ROCK AND OTHER UNSUITABLE MATERLkL <br />A. All muck, rock , clay, marl, gravel, boulders, heterogeneous fill material <br />and any other organic or unsuitable "materials of excavation" encountered <br />under pavement areas, structures and utilities shall be excavated and <br />removed. Also any "unforeseen obstacles" such as buried trees or timbers, <br />abandoned utilities, metal objects, concrete masses, or any other type of <br />debris encountered shall be removed. <br />B. Stripping shall be accomplished to clean in-place sand or other suitable <br />material as approved by the Engineer. Removal of unsuitable material within <br />areas which are to receive footings, slabs or other foundations shall be <br />completed for the full area under such structures and to ten feet minimum <br />outside the maximum perimeter. Where pavement is to be placed, said <br />removal shall include all area under the surface and extend to the outside of <br />shoulders and under sidewalks and bike paths, or as directed by the <br />n <br />Engineer. <br />C. All roots, stumps, logs, limbs, timbers, boulders, or any material which is <br />not suitable for backfill material shall be removed from the site promptly and <br />excavated and disposed of by the Contractor at his expense. <br />D. All "materials of excavation" and "unforeseen obstacles" will be considered <br />as incidental to construction and no additional compensation will be <br />allowed. <br />ao-x <br />P � 1, <br />
