a <br />f <br />1. Ensuring that timely emergency response operations <br />can be initiated. <br />2. Issuing necessary Executive Orders, proclamations, <br />and regulations. <br />3. Providing direction and control should be the <br />emergency be beyond the capabilities of the local <br />governments affected. <br />The Governor will also request federal assistance as <br />necessary upon determining that the state has insufficient <br />technical andlor logistical resources to adequately cope with <br />the off-site consequences of an emergency involving <br />hazardous materials. <br />2.3.2 Attorney General <br />The Attorney General will provide consultation to the <br />Governor on legal matters pertaining to emergencies <br />involving the release of hazardous materials. <br />2.3,3 Department of Community Affairs <br />This department is responsible for coordinating the State's <br />response to emergencies involving hazardous materials. <br />The Department will also request and coordinate assistance <br />as necessary from federal emergency response agencies. <br />The Department will: <br />a. Notify appropriate state, local and federal agencies of <br />an emergency involving hazardous materials. <br />b. Coordinate federal, state and local emergency <br />response activities. <br />C. Ascertain the requirements of state and local political <br />subdivisions for supplies and equipment, and locate <br />and provide needed supplies and equipment. <br />d.
